Finding Wonder in the Everyday: The Story Behind the Leaf & Lens Nature Oracle
There is a quote that became the heart of this deck:
“You only get to see the sunset once a day. But that feeling—the wonder, the colour, the beauty—can be found any time if you stop and look.”
I’ve spent years walking through forests, along beaches, beside rivers, and through my own garden with a camera in my hand. Not searching for anything spectacular. Not chasing famous locations or perfect sunsets.
Instead, I’ve always been drawn to the small things.
The moss growing quietly on an old stump.
The lichen clinging to a branch.
The way light filters through trees.
A feather on the ground.
A hidden flower.
A mushroom no bigger than my thumb.
Tiny details that most people walk past without noticing.
For as long as I can remember, those little discoveries have given me the same feeling people get when they watch a sunset. A moment of wonder. A pause. A reminder that beauty exists everywhere if we’re willing to slow down enough to see it.
Over time, I realised that nature wasn’t just providing photographs.
It was teaching lessons.
An old moss-covered stump wasn’t simply a stump. It became a reminder that endings create space for new life.
Lichen became a lesson in patience and quiet growth.
Waves became a lesson in resilience.
Trees became a lesson in strength.
The natural world was full of metaphors, reflections, and gentle reminders that seemed to appear exactly when they were needed.
The idea for the Leaf & Lens Nature Oracle grew from those observations.
I wanted to create something that captured not only the photographs, but also the feelings behind them.
A deck that encouraged people to pause.
To breathe.
To reflect.
To reconnect with the natural world and with themselves.
Every image in this deck began as a real moment outdoors. Many of them were captured during family adventures, quiet walks, side quests, and unexpected discoveries. Some were found on riverbanks. Some in forests. Some in places I never intended to photograph at all.
Often the most meaningful images were the ones I almost walked past.
That lesson feels important.
Because life is often like that too.
We spend so much time looking ahead, planning, worrying, striving, and rushing that we forget to notice what is already around us.
The beauty.
The growth.
The resilience.
The possibility.
The Leaf & Lens Nature Oracle isn’t about predicting the future.
It’s about helping us return to the present.
It’s an invitation to slow down and look closer.
To notice the beauty in small things.
To find wisdom in ordinary places.
To remember that wonder doesn’t only live in sunsets, mountaintops, or extraordinary moments.
Sometimes it’s growing quietly beneath our feet.
This First Edition release is especially meaningful to me because it represents the beginning of a dream that started with a camera, a love of nature, and a habit of stopping to admire moss, lichen, trees, and all the tiny details that make the world feel magical.
Only three numbered First Edition decks are available for release.
Each one includes a hand-signed thank-you card as a small token of my gratitude for supporting independent art, photography, and creative dreams.
Whether this deck finds its way onto your coffee table, your journaling space, your nature altar, or into your daily rituals, I hope it reminds you of something simple:
The world is full of beauty.
You just have to stop and look.
