- Timing: Sow seeds in autumn to early winter, allowing them to establish roots before spring flowering.
- Location: Choose a position with full sun (at least 6 hours).
- Soil Preparation: Ensure soil is well-drained. Clear weeds and gently rake the surface.
- Sowing: Sow seeds 1mm deep, spaced 15–25cm apart, or broadcast them for a natural, packed look. For even distribution, mix seeds with sand or potting mix.
- Germination: Keep the area moist, but not waterlogged, until germination (7–14 days). Use a spray bottle or light misting to avoid washing away small seeds.
- Maintenance: Protect seedlings from snails and slugs. Once established, they are drought-tolerant and need little water.
- Fertilizer: Apply a low-phosphorus native fertilizer sparingly if needed.
- Flowering & Harvesting: Flowers appear from September to November. Harvest when they first open, then hang upside down to dry for arrangements.
